The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) on September 18, 2025, issued the Draft Veterinary Health Certificate for Import of Lamb Meat and Lamb Meat Products into India.
The following has been stated: -
•The draft veterinary health certificate lays down requirements for the import of lamb meat and meat products into India, including details of the exporter, importer, packaging, origin, transport, and licensing.
•It mandates that products originate from disease-free animals and establishments, with strict compliance to WOAH standards and FSSAI regulations.
•Products must be free from beef/by-products, harmful residues, and processed under hygienic, biosecure, and HACCP-compliant systems.
•Post-import, consignments undergo quarantine checks, disease testing, and any non-compliance leads to rejection or disposal, with Labeling required in local/regional language.
